Despite being Tuesday, today is looking pretty good.
Yesterday our stroller and carseat came (thanks, in-laws!) and last night I put them together. Here is Jeff posing with the carseat, and a loaf of bread as a stand-in for the baby:
It's semi-fitting that it's Italian bread - Jeff's family is Italian, but his mom is adopted so he's not actually Italian. That doesn't keep his older brother from making a big deal of his Italian heritage, though, and the family still has big (I mean BIG) Italian feasts for Christmas and other events. And for the stroller, we used a bottle of Jack Daniel's as a baby substitute, though it's kind of hard to see:
I LOVE this stroller (Britax B Agile). I can't even express how awesome it is.
This morning I got to meet with the Big Boss at the job I've been interviewing for. I took it as a good sign that he wanted to meet with me, and Michelle said that she is pretty sure he's on board with hiring someone with more experience and making it more of a managerial role. I think the meeting went well, and Michelle made it seem as though I'm now a shoo-in, I just have to wait for them to post the job in the next couple of days and then I can apply. Squeeeee! I'm trying not to get TOO excited, because there's nothing on paper yet and anything can happen, but it seems like things are looking really, really good. I think it's kind of funny that I have applied to more than 40 jobs, and the only two serious nibbles I've had were both from Toshi sending out my resume, not from applications I sent in. Just goes to show, it really is who you know!
I also met with someone from HR and she talked to me about the benefits and whatnot that come with the position - which also seems to indicate I'm likely to get this job, right? I'm pretty much on cloud nine. The Big Boss is uber famous (seriously, he could get a Nobel Prize someday), and UW is a gorgeous campus. I snapped this photo on my way to the interview (no idea what it is, but isn't it cool-looking?):
The other very awesome thing that is happening today? Our couch is being delivered!!!! Fingers crossed that it actually fits through our door and into our apartment. We had a little trouble with the last one, but they got it in (and we were able to get it out), so I'm hopeful. If they can't get it, and have to take it back, I will cry. I can no longer handle the chairs we got at Target - they're fine for short periods but I miss being able to sit in different positions! I emptied out our living room in preparation, and now it just looks so...expectant!
Update: it's here, it's here! BEHOLD:
