I know that Fridays are less of a big deal since I'm unemployed and staying at home and all, but it's still nice to know that I get to spend some time with Jeff for the next two days. Plus I don't let myself sleep in during the week, since it just makes me feel like a slacker, so I enjoy that too - while it lasts!
Last night I put together yet another baby item: the Pack 'n Play that came yesterday. I gotta say, the instructions for this thing are TERRIBLE and I felt like a moron putting it together even though I'm usually pretty good with this stuff. The good news is, now that I know where the pieces actually go (no thanks to the none-too-detailed drawings provided by Graco), it is much easier to disassemble and reassemble - which I had to do just to move it into the baby's room, since Graco didn't have the foresight to make it two inches narrower so it could fit through a doorway. Here it is, again with the bear model:
I was surprised at how well the color scheme goes with the cradle/swing (which you can see in the background of the top picture). Not intentional, and not really important, but a happy coincidence. I do tend to gravitate toward greens and browns, so I guess it makes sense.
We were invited to three weddings in late September/early October, all of which we had to decline, unfortunately. I finally got around to looking at the wedding registries and buying gifts, and was reminded that we got a nifty gadget at my bridal shower: a stick blender! I had wanted it for making soups, but somehow I forgot about that. Now I am determined to find some easy soup recipes and get some use out of this thing, which I think will be beneficial since soups tend to freeze well and it will make some nice go-to meals once the baby is here. So my mission today is get some recipes together and compile a grocery list, and next week I will do some cooking. Not as conventionally productive as my other days have been, but it will keep me busy and at least serve more purpose than watching HBO shows online all day :) Yay for a new activity!
