I am actually writing this one AT Starbucks, so I will try to keep it short :)
Yesterday morning was my midwife appointment, and it went really well. No ultrasound, so I felt kind of bad for dragging Jeff there, but he did get to hear her heartbeat on the Doppler. Also, the MW was awesome - she said not one single word about my weight. Even though I'm pushing 200 lbs now...::blush:: I still feel like I'm eating healthy, though for a week and a half that wasn't really happening while we were on the road.
Then around 1 pm, the cubes were delivered (hallelujah!) - the driver was super nice and even apologetic about the delay, saying he completely understands the frustration and thinks it's too bad the company policy doesn't offer anything. Then I headed to my job interview, which was great. I seriously love Michelle and the job they're offering, and I got to meet three more people who were also all great. Everyone was really impressed and Michelle kept saying how highly qualified I am (which surprised me every time...but I will admit that I'm a really good fit for the position) and says that I'm definitely her pick for the job. The only caveat is that the boss is thinking about hiring a few less-experienced people instead, right out of college. Even if it weren't self-serving of me, I really think that's a terrible idea and so does everyone but the boss. He's away and will be back next Monday, so Michelle said she's going to sit down with him Monday and talk me up, and convince him to hire someone on my level. She says she's pretty confident that she (and the others) can wear him down, but who knows. She thinks they'll be able to list the job by September, which sounded far away to me until I realized it's in two weeks.
I reallllly hope I get it, but in the meantime I plan to apply for some more jobs (as soon as we get internet on Thursday). I did apply for some a couple of weeks ago, but I haven't heard anything. :-/ I'm also supposed to meet with Barry about the other job possibility I'm being considered for, sometime next week. He is really unsure about funding but says that I'm his 'top choice on a list of one', so he would hire me in a heartbeat if his funding comes through before I find something else.
On my way home I get a panicked call from Jeff, saying that I need to call ABF right away (they were closing soon) and have them pick up the cubes tomorrow. He got yelled at for having them in the lot across from our building, even though it is specifically where I was told we should put them - this b**** told him that they need to be in our reserved carport ONLY, and that they NEVER let people use those spaces. I'm pretty sure someone complained; they did seem to generate a lot of interest from people nearby. I was pretty ticked and stopped by the leasing center on my way home to clear it up, and the girl there confirmed what I had been told previously: the non-carport spots aren't reserved, we are fine parking them anywhere BUT the carports (where they wouldn't have been able to go anyway, because the forklift couldn't get under the roof), and that people park cubes/PODS/moving trucks there all the time. Hmmmph. I felt really bad because Jeff busted his butt getting them both unpacked in one afternoon, by himself (except for one nice man who helped him with the TV). He is covered and bruises and really sore :(
So then the unpacking commenced. I got ~9 boxes done last night, and the kitchen is almost done. We still need some kind of pantry storage but it's not as bad as I'd thought. We also got to sleep on our bed last night, with our normal sheets and pillows, and it was fantastic. As another bonus, we don't hear our neighbor's TV over our humidifier, and it's even muffled by having our stuff in there - score! Today I did 5 boxes and Jeff got the living room mostly set up, so it looks like we actually live there (despite the fact that it's two dorm chairs and a TV with no service!). The living room and kitchen look great, there's just a wall of boxes between them :) He also set up the desk in the office/spare room and fixed the bookcase (some nails had fallen out) - I think he should be done for the day, he's been so tired. After we finish here at Starbucks, we're going to do some grocery shopping - I can actually cook food now!! - and then I want to finish unpacking/putting away all of our clothes. Once they're all out, I'll have a better idea of how much extra storage we need for that, because we definitely need something. It's all coming together really nicely, which makes me really happy. And so far nothing has been broken! A few clothes were stained, but hopefully that will wash out, and it's only been three things so far out of a zillion.
