Today marks the 32nd week of my pregnancy –
that’s 4/5 or 80% done! Even crazier,
I’ll be considered full-term in 4 or 5 weeks (depending on who you ask/what
book you’re reading). It seems like this
pregnancy went pretty slowly at first, maybe because we had so much going on,
but it’s really picking up momentum now – though I’m sure it will feel like
it’s dragging at the end. The baby still
has plenty of room in there and has been kicking/jabbing like crazy, I’ll be
kind of sad when those big movements stop because she’s gotten too big! I must say, though, that it's getting pretty freaking uncomfortable; it's hard to sleep at night, my joints hurt, I have a permanently 'tweaked' spot in my lower back, and I have a crazy waddle-limp going on. Totally worth it, but not fun.
Yesterday I basically finished unpacking. There are a few boxes that just need to be
moved into a closet (mementos, class notes, etc) and two boxes of out-of-season
clothes that will go straight into storage bins, as soon as we buy those (oh,
how I miss all the shelves in our old closet!).
Most of the rooms look really great, and the nursery is just…empty. We have a recliner in there and all of the
stuff we’ve received is in her closet, but it’s pretty bare. I guess sometime soon we need to pick up a
crib, dresser/changing table, and a bunch of little tiny baby hangers. That will be fun!
Today Jeff’s boss is having a BBQ at his house, so I drove
Jeff to work in order to go later. Now I
have the car (yippee!) so I took the car for emissions testing (way faster and
cheaper than in MD) and as soon as I get this load of laundry into the dryer,
I’m going to go get my hair cut and stop at the grocery store for a few items,
plus snacks for the BBQ. The really
exciting thing today though…we get internet!
They said they’ll turn it on ‘by 5 p.m.’, which is maddening – we
already have the modem, can’t you just go ahead and flip the switch now? (nod to Brian Regan there) So even though I’m composing this in Word
ahead of time, I will be posting it from HOME and not Starbucks. Ah, it’s the simple joys.
