Driving Day 5

Last night's hotel: Holiday Inn Express Billings
Pros: pretty comfy bed, good water pressure, yummy breakfast, NICEST people so far, really quiet
Cons: no fridge, a bit pricey for what it was

The ABF drama continues.  After being told our stuff would 'definitely' be there Friday, if not earlier, this morning I found out it won't be delivered til Monday at the earliest.  After a lot of phone calls and e-mails and threats to dispute the charge with my credit company (which I will do if necessary), nothing has really changed.  My case has been moved to some higher-ups who have yet to contact me, which is a bummer because it seemed like there was a possibility that they would be able to expedite our shipment and get it there faster.  Instead, I've heard nothing and the cubes have been sitting in Chicago since last night :-/

I've moved beyond totally pissed off into resignation.  We decided to just buy a couch or a bed when we get to Seattle and move into our empty apartment, so we don't have to spend money on hotels and food.  We definitely needed a couch anyway (ours didn't fit in the cubes, and we were planning to replace it anyway), and we were going to get a bed down the road for the guest room/office.  So depending on what's cheapest and what we can get sooner, we'll just do that.  I will wait to see where things stand tomorrow, but if the cubes won't come til Monday, I have to reschedule my interview so I can be home for the delivery.  Annoying, but I think Michelle (the person interviewing me) will understand.

Today we went through some super mountainous parts of Montana, and it was really beautiful.  We also saw a super creepy, GIANT statue of Mary on a mountain - the picture doesn't do it justice, the camera was zoomed all the way in AND I zoomed and cropped in Photoshop.  This sucker was enormous.  I apologize for the huge pictures, but I felt it was the only way to do the scenery justice!

It was also awesome to only drive 5 hours and be done.  We were able to get to our hotel, relax for a while, get dinner, go to Target, and still have time to relax (and blog) before showering and bed.  I am glad we did the long days, to get the driving done, but this is infinitely preferable stress-wise.  Tomorrow is only 6-6.5 hours, we're stopping about two hours from Seattle so we can do a short day, then still have basically a full day in Seattle on Thursday to get our keys and buy some stuff for the apartment.  Fun times!
