Wednesday I found out that I got the job I had been interviewing for, AND they are paying me even more than I had hoped! I spent the whole day dancing around the apartment and spazzing out. It is a huge relief knowing that we are going to be able to get through my 'maternity leave' (which will just be a leave of absence) and afford daycare when I go back to work in January. I start on Tuesday (since Monday is Labor Day) and I am so excited. A bit nervous, since it's always hard knowing what to do right away, but once I get into the swing of things I think it will be a lot of fun.
For now, Jeff and I are going to commute together - we will ride to his work (we can take the HOV lane and the express lane!) and then I will take a 10-15 minute shuttle to my job. We will see how this works; Jeff thinks I will be miserable on the shuttle (and taking the bus on days that I have a doctor's appointment) but I think it would be MORE miserable to drive myself and sit in rush hour traffic alone! We may work out something else for doctor's appointments, depending on how the system works. Once I go back to work after the baby comes, we will consider getting a second car since it will be tough juggling daycare.
Speaking of daycare, I think I found a daycare! After a not-so-good experience at an in-home daycare, I was really relieved that the center I toured yesterday was awesome AND has an opening in January, I can register now. We are waiting to hear back from the two centers where each of us work, since that would be the most convenient, but it's likely we won't get a spot by then so I am pretty sure that we are going to go ahead and register at the other place. We will stay on the other waiting lists and consider switching when a spot opens up.
I still haven't showered today, apparently now that I have a job I am no longer worried about getting depressed by laying around and doing nothing all day. I suppose I should get off the couch at some point...either today or this weekend I want to clean the apartment and organize the office, because my mom, my sister, and her boyfriend Brad are visiting next weekend. I'm excited that we get to sleep in tomorrow since there's no baby class due to the holiday! I'm pretty sure this weekend will involve a lot of sleeping, lounging and cuddling, with just a little cleaning :)
